Allyson Felix

Allyson Michael Felix is a Los Angeles native born on November 18th, 1985. Paul Felix, her father, was an ordained pastor of Master's Seminary Sun Valley. Marlean Felix worked at Balboa Magnet elementary school. Felix was an athlete of the highest level and developed a passion for sprinting at Los Angeles Baptist High School. Only 10 weeks after her initial tryout, she placed 2nd in the 200 meter event during the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix was signed to a professional career with Adidas in 2003, and after that she enrolled at University of Southern California to study elementary education. Her first Olympic medal came during the 2004 Summer Olympics, in Athens Greece. Felix set an international junior record sprinting 200 meters in 22.18 secs. In 2005, she became the youngest world champion of 200 meters at the Helsinki World Championships. She won the title again in 2007, defeating her long-time Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell. Felix participated in Beijing London Rio de Janeiro Tokyo and has consistently ranked within the top three athletes in each of her events.
